Two unknown gunmen over the past
weekend, attacked the residence of a Catholic priest, Italo Spagnolo in Ogun
State, carting away valuables. A Catholic priest identified as Italo
Spagnolo, in Ogun State, was attacked by two unknown gunmen over the weekend,
carting away valuables on Sunday morning at the Federal Housing Estate, Ikoto,
in the Ijebu Ode area of the state.
“One of the robbers pointed a gun at me. The
robbers took everything in my house,” the
76-year-old priest said.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the robbers have been arrested.
According to him, the suspected robbers, Akeem Dauda and Mojeed Yusuf, tied their victim’s hands and legs with chains and gagged him, while the robbery lasted.

“The cleric’s Toyota Camry
with number plate, EKY 483 DE, three laptops, a plasma television set, two
mobile phones, two passports, N40, 000 and E255 were stolen.
“Our men at Obada Oko got information that some people wanted to sell a car
suspected to have been stolen.
“Policemen went there and the two robbers were arrested and the car was later
recovered.
“The robbers confessed to the crime and we are currently investigating the
case,” the PPRO told newsmen.
